Inter forward Joaquin Correa has been named as the single worst performer in the Nerazzurri’s shock 0-1 loss to Monza in Serie A yesterday.

The Argentine received a grade of just 4.5/10 for his display in the match in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, though few Nerazzurri players fared well, and coach Simone Inzaghi scored lowest of all at just 4/10.

Inter suffered their fourth defeat in just five Serie A matches, a truly miserable run in which the team’s stuttering attack has looked to be the main issue.

Accordingly, it was not too much of a surprise to see that the attacking players have come in for particular criticism in the reactions to yesterday’s match.

Ever since joining Inter from Lazio on the summer of 2021, Correa has been under fire for a perceived failure to make good on the price tag that the Nerazzurri payed for him.

Injuries and fitness problems have been one of the key reasons for the 28-year-old’s inconsistent displays, whilst as an attacker he has come in for criticism frequently for a lack of end product in spite of his undeniable skill.

Correa was given a chance to answer some of these “flop” accusations with a start at the San Siro yesterday evening, leading the line alongside Romelu Lukaku.

Whilst the former Biancocelesti and Sevilla man did have a few good touches and positive runs, he once again failed to show any cutting edge in front of goal, hardly helping the team in their desperate search for league goals from open play.

Meanwhile, Lukaku fared little better, with 5/10 given to the Belgian who did show some tidy holdup play but could have done better with the three decent chances that he had.

Defender Francesco Acerbi was named as the Nerazzurri’s best performer, as the 35-year-old came on for Stefan de Vrij and was both relatively solid at the back and surprisingly proactive in his forays into the final third considering his position.
