Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has yet to make a decision on which of Romelu Lukaku or Edin Dzeko will start in attack alongside Lautaro Martinez against Benfica in the Champions League tomorrow.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that both strikers are still very much in contention for a start in the quarterfinal second leg clash, whilst Marcelo Brozovic is favourite over Hakan Calhanoglu to start in midfield.
Inzaghi is starting to firm up his decisions as far as the starting eleven in tomorrow evening’s Champions League match against Benfica, although he still has one or two doubts.
By far the biggest question in the coach’s mind concerns the attack.
Whilst it is all but certain that Martinez will start, it is possible that either Dzeko, who had started in the first leg against Benfica, or Lukaku, who came off the bench in that match and started against Monza over the weekend, will start.
Both of the pair will be in contention, and Inzaghi’s decision on which to start will be based on what he sees in training over the next 24 hours or so.
Meanwhile, in midfield it looks as though Brozovic will keep his place at the base of the trio from the first leg.
Even though Hakan Calhanoglu is now fully fit and available, having come off the bench against Monza in Serie A over the weekend, Brozovic’s performance against Benfica in the first leg had been an excellent one and looks to have won the trust of his coach.
The likes of Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will start on either side of the Croat, forming the same trio which started in the first leg in Lisbon.
Meanwhile, in defense the trio of Matteo Darmian, Francesco Acerbi, and Alessandro Bastoni is set to start tomorrow as they had done in the first leg.
