Former Inter goalkeeper Tommaso Berni believes that there can be no question of the commitment of current Nerazzurri President Steven Zhang to the club.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Berni spoke about the impression that he has gotten from his conversations with the current Inter boss, which he suggests clearly showed that the 31-year-old cares about the club amid rumours that Suning could sell the Nerazzurri.

Whilst Zhang has always reiterated his commitment to Inter, the fact is that the financial situation that hangs over the club and over owners Suning has meant that a possible sale has been persistently linked for some time.

These rumours have hardly gone away in recent weeks, and on the contrary have grown louder and louder.

It is quite possible that the financial situation at Inter, and particularly the level of debt that the club is dealing with, could make it so that Zhang must look for a buyer regardless of his own feelings and ambitions at the club.

From the perspective of former Inter goalkeeper Berni, however, there is at any rate no doubt about how much the current President genuinely cares about the club.

“Rumours are rumours,” he said of the speculation about a possible sale of Inter.

“I know how much the {resident cares about Inter, the players, all the staff, the whole environment, and the fans,” he continued.

Berni noted that “I know how much he gets genuinely excited, he celebrated with us when we reached qualification for the Champions League and he was always very present, very attentive and very curious to know about the things that are going on.”

“We spoke frequently, and for me he’s an excellent President, who is bringing Inter back to the top. and I hope that there’s a possibility for he and Inter to move forward together.”
