Inter have been offered the chance to sign current Lyon and former Celtic and Atletico Madrid striker Moussa Dembele on a free transfer.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are lukewarm on the possibility of signing the Frenchman, but keeping the possibility in mind considering that they could need to sign several strikers during the summer transfer window.

Dembele’s current contract with Lyon is set to run out at the end of June, and the 26-year-old looks to be set to leave on a free transfer rather than sign an extension when his deal with the French club runs out.

The French international has been linked with Inter in the past, as a possible replacement for Lautaro Martinez during the summer of 2020 had the Argentine left the club to join Barcelona.

In the meantime, Dembele spent the second half of the 2020-21 campaign on loan with Atletico Madrid, where he won the La Liga title but was unable to score a single goal as playing time proved to be very hard to come by.

Last season Dembele, who had scored more than twenty goals across all competitions for Lyon in each of his first two seasons with the club, managed to find the back of the net a total of 22 times in 36 appearances for the French side.

However, this time around the 26-year-old has so far made 27 appearances for Lyon across all competitions and has only managed to score three goals in the process.

The French striker had come through the academy of Paris Saint-Germain before leaving to join Fulham as a youth team player, then Celtic where he shone during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns to earn a move to Lyon.

According to FCIN, Inter are well aware of the possible opportunity that signing Dembele without a transfer fee would represent, particularly with the futures of all of Edin Dzeko, Romelu Lukaku, and Joaquin Correa all very much up in the air.

However, the outlet reports, at the moment the Frenchman is not a priority target for the Nerazzurri.
