Legendary former Inter, Roma, Real Madrid, and Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano believes that the Nerazzurri need nothing short of a “revolution” this summer.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, via FCInterNews, the former forward highlighted the uncertainty around Marcelo Brozovic and Romelu Lukaku as aspects of the team that will need to be radically refreshed ahead of this season.

Whilst there are a few players who will almost certainly be wearing an Inter shirt come the start of next season, the truth is that a very large chunk of the squad seems to either have one foot already out the exit door, or to have their future yet to be decided.

Players like Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi in defense, or Denzel Dumfries and Robin Gosens on the flanks, seem to have a cloud of uncertainty hanging over them which is making it hard for the team to really lay down a marker and build.

Whilst the Nerazzurri have certainly been having a memorable season in the Champions league, in the league it could hardly be said that they have lived up to expectations.

Accordingly, in the view of Cassano, this Inter cannot simply go again next season and hope for something better, but rather the team must undergo a big change during the summer transfer window so that they can have a different outlook when next campaign begins.

Looking at the Nerazzurri’s win over Empoli on Sunday, the former forward argued that the team were “Obscene and unwatchable in the first half.”

Then in the second half, Romelu Lukaku pushed the team to score three goals, with Cassano arguing that “He’s at 50-60%, he scored two great goals, the one with his right was reminiscent of Vieri.”

“It hasn’t been how I imagined from him, I don’t know how much more he can give,” he argued of the Belgian.

“If Inter were to win the Champions League, it would mean that they had a terrible league campaign considering how far behind Napoli they are,” Cassano argued.

“For me, Inter need a revolution, and also to solve the Brozovic question considering it’s not clear whether or not he’ll stay,” he argued.
