Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio has poured some cold water on the rumours that Tajon Buchanan is set for a move to join Inter in the summer.

Reporting on his homepage, Di Marzio clarified that it is the case that the 24-year-old Canadian international is a serious target for the Nerazzurri, but denied that there have been serious negotiations between Inter and his club Club Brugge.

A report earlier today suggested that Inter have a concrete agreement with Club Brugge to sign Buchanan in a deal worth around €15 million.

Whilst it has been reported for some time that the Canadian is a player on the Nerazzurri’s radar, particularly since the club scouted his performances at the World Cup in Qatar, this report went further.

Belgian outlet HLN claimed not only that the Nerazzurri are seriously tracking Buchanan, but also that they have already reached a verbal agreement with Brugge to sign him from around €15 million during the summer transfer window.

Moreover, the report suggested that the player concerned would be very keen on making the move.

As has been widely reported, HLN suggest that Buchanan is seen by Inter as a replacement for Denzel Dumfries should the Dutchman be sold.

However, Di Marzio has quashed the suggestion that Inter’s pursuit of the 24-year-old has gone as far as the Belgian outlet has stated that it has.

“Buchanan is a target for Inter,” the Sky transfer market expert reports. “The Nerazzurri’s interest in the player has been confirmed, there have been contacts with him.”

“The player himself would appreciate this as a possible destination, but at the moment there have been no concrete negotiations between Inter and Club Brugge,” Di Marzio makes clear.

This would not mean that Inter are not targeting Buchanan, far from it, but would make his arrival at the club for next season far less inevitable than HLN’s report had made it appear.
