Inter wingback Federico Dimarco has admitted that for a month and a half he had been playing through a bit of an injury problem, although now he is feeling all better.
Speaking to InterTV after the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 Coppa Italia semifinal second leg win over Juventus, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old noted the prior injury issue, whilst he also gave his reaction to the match which had seen him score the only goal to send the Nerazzurri to the final of the competition.
Whilst Dimarco has certainly been an important player for Inter this season, as with a lot of his teammates he has also been dealing with some physical problems resulting from the stress of playing so many demanding fixtures so close together.
Whilst the 25-year-old has only missed a couple matches through injury, it is often the case that these official injury misses only tell part of the story regarding players’ issues with fitness.
In the case of Dimarco, the wingback admits that he had in fact been dealing with Pubalgia, a form of lesion to the groin muscles between the adductors and abdominal muscles, for a little while, and it had been hindering him somewhat on the pitch.
However, at this point the 25-year-old feels that he is back to being at his best, and ready to make a contribution over the rest of the season with the team still competing on three fronts after reaching the Coppa Italia semifinal this evening.
“For a month and a half I was playing through pubalgia, at one point I couldn’t take it any longer and I tried to get back into condition,” Dimarco explained.
“Now I’m better, and I’m 100% for the final part of the season,” he added.
Of what scoring against the Bianconeri means to him, Dimarco said that “These are emotions that I will always carry with me, I’m especially happy to have reached the final.”
“Over the last few matches against Juve the only thing that we’ve missed has been the goal, but now we’ve found the win that we wanted.”
