Inter have confirmed that wingback Robin Gosens has suffered a dislocation following the Nerazzurri’s 3-1 Serie A win over Lazio.

The club released a statement on their official site where they note that the German was treated for the injury in the dressing rooms after coming off as a substitute by the official medical staff.

Gosens only came onto the pitch midway through the second half of this evening’s match, replacing Alessandro Bastoni, in a move which saw Federico Dimarco move from left-wingback to left-centre-back, and Gosens replace Dimarco on the left flank.

At the time that Gosens came onto the pitch, Inter were still trailing by a goal, and searching for an equalizer.

The 28-year-old former Atalanta man was certainly to prove to have a telling impact, as he was the player who scored the Nerazzurri’s second goal to put them ahead on the day for the first time, following an equalizer by Lautaro Martinez.

However, this vital goal came at a personal cost to the wingback.

Gosens needed an acrobatic leap to get a foot onto Romelu Lukaku’s high cross, and whilst this proved to be enough to bundle the ball past Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, it was also a physically awkward position for the Inter man, who was not able to control his landing.

The 28-year-old visibly landed in an uncomfortable position on his side, and it was immediately clear as he was unable to celebrate the goal normally whilst on the ground in pain.

Gosens immediately indicated to the Nerazzurri bench that he would need to be taken off due to the injury.

Stefan de Vrij came on for the German, slotting into the centre of the back three as Francesco Acerbi shifted out to the left and Dimarco returned to his position at wingback.

It was not immediately clear the extent of Gosens’s injury, but the club have confirmed that it was a dislocated shoulder.
