Inter striker Lautaro Martinez feels that the Nerazzurri’s 3-1 Serie A win over Lazio sent out a clear message to the fans.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old stressed that the Nerazzurri have given a clear sign that they are ready to push for their objectives over the final weeks of the campaign by coming from behind to beat the Biancocelesti.

When Inter were heading into the final quarter of this afternoon’s match still a goal down, it could have been taken as a sign that this was just another match in the league that wasn’t the Nerazzurri’s day.

Whilst Inter battered the Lazio goal with attempts, there was a feeling that nothing was going in, something of a familiar sensation in some of the Nerazzurri’s recent Serie A matches.

However, the team never stopped pushing, and Martinez’s introduction as a substitute played a key role in switching the momentum for good.

The Argentine scored the equalizer, getting on the end of some excellent work from Romelu Lukaku and using sheer determination to bundle the ball past Biancocelesti goalkeeper Ivan Provedel.

Then, Robin Gosens put the Nerazzurri ahead lead on, from another Lukaku assist, and the German even injured himself in the process as he landed awkwardly and appeared to do some damage to his shoulder after a determined, acrobatic finish.

Martinez scored Inter’s final goal of a late flourish to wrap up the three massive points, and they made clear to the full house that was in attendance at San Siro that they are ready to greet the packed season finale with no end of quality and intensity.

“This win is certainly a message to the team and to the fans who showed their love for the shirt yet again today,” Martinez said afterwards.

“They were the twelfth man,” he added. “We’ve very happy to have taken the points from a match.”

“We need everyone, results and points,” Martinez added.

Of the criticisms faced by the team, the striker said that “It’s normal, I’ve been here for five years and I’ve grown up a lot.”

“I take responsibility and accept criticism, but I only think about doing everything I can to allow the club to grow.”
