Italian journalist Michele Criscietello believes that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has done more than enough to deserve to stay on in his role.

Writing in a column for Italian broadcaster SportItalia, the journalist gave the view that the current Nerazzurri boss deserves a lot of credit for the job that he’s done despite all the criticism that he’s received.

Inzaghi has been plagued by speculation about his future all throughout the current season.

This has only ramped up over the past few weeks, where a sequences of four losses and a draw in five Serie A matches even led to speculation that the 47-year-old may not even be given until the end of the season to right the ship.

However, as Criscitiello observes, Inzaghi has always managed to find the answer to his critics when it has been needed most.

The journalist argues that, even though Inzaghi has faced criticism all throughout the campaign, his work should speak for itself, and he deserves to be given more time in which to do his work.

“Congratulations to Inter, who have already gotten into a Coppa Italia final, a Champions League semifinal, have already won the Supercoppa, and have a real chance of making next season’s Champions League,” he writes.

“Not bad for the incompetent Simone Inzaghi, who just one month ago had to be sacked, sent on his way, to make way for Chivu on the bench,” he observes sardonically.

“He probably won’t win the Champions League, and even the Coppa Italia and top four in the league won’t be easy, but it’s always easy to get ahead of ourselves but we’re still behind Inzaghi,” he continues.

“We’re against the constant attacks from the press, and from some particularly blind fans,” he adds.
