Inter coach Simone Inzaghi feels that the team did very well to never lose their composure in a 3-1 win over Lazio in Serie A yesterday afternoon.
Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the coach hailed the fact that even after going a goal down in the first half, the Nerazzurri stuck to their task well and got the job done.
Inter could have been forgiven for thinking that a move they’ve seen before was playing out after Lazio scored against the run of play in the first half at the San Siro.
This season, and particularly the past few weeks, has seen the Nerazzurri go behind in a number of matches in which they’ve had the lion’s share of possession and goalscoring chances.
The team has now always reacted, but against the Biancocelesti this time around they never cam unglued and kept pushing until they found the breakthrough that they needed.
“We always remained aggressive, organized, and determined,” he said, “even after conceding we never came undone.”
“Clearly this is what we needed against a Lazio side who have been in excellent form in the league,” he added.
“Clearly I would have liked a different first half in terms of the result, but as a coach I have to know how to separate the result from the performance, and Inter also played a great match in the first half as well in my opinion.”
“We spoke after the first half,” the coach added, “we had to stay focused and keep believing in what we were doing in the first half, because our moment would come.”
“We never lost our heads and stuck to our tasks, and took three massive points,” the coach said. “We still have a long way to go in the league from here on out.”
