Roberto Gagliardini could start in midfield for Inter Milan in tomorrow night’s Match Day 33 Serie A clash at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi against Hellas Verona, kick-off scheduled for 21.00 CET.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, as reported via Italian Inter Milan news-site FcInterNews, who reported moments ago on air that the former Atalanta midfielder could start in place of Nicoló Barella.

The reason for this would be that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi wants to rest the Italy international midfielder Nicolo Barella ahead of the Roma game in the Serie A away at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday May 6th, with kick-off scheduled for 18.00 CET.

Barella, who turned 26 this past February, has been ever present for the Nerazzurri this season and has to date featured 44 times across all competitions scoring eight goals in the process.

Roberto Gagliardini, whose contract expires this coming June with no extension in sight, is seen as the only natural replacement given Simone Inzaghi also wants to give Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan a breather too, the report continues.

Stefan de Vrij In Francesco Acerbi Out

In defence, Dutch international central defender Stefan de Vrij is expected to start in the middle of the back three, which means Francesco Acerbi will begin the match on the bench, confirming Gazzetta’s report from this morning.

Danilo D’Ambrosio is expected to receive his second consecutive start to the right of the Dutchman in the Serie A clash away at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi, with Alessandro Bastoni playing to the left of the back three.

In goal, Cameroon goalkeeper André Onana, who has been the subject of a lot of transfer speculation recently, is expected to start with Nerazzurri captain Samir Handanovic starting on the bench.

Hakan Calhanoglu & Marcelo Brozovic Certain To Start

In the middle of the park Armenian international midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to be rested with Turkish international midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu taking his place.

However, the deep-lying midfield playmaker role will be given to Croatian FIFA World Cup hero Marcelo Brozovic with the only doubt in midfield in Inzaghi’s mind being as already mentioned, starting either Barella or Gagliardini.

On the wings, Federico Dimarco is expected to start to the left with Robin Gosens not making the bench following suffering a dislocated shoulder when scoring the against Lazio.

Dutch international wingback Denzel Dumfries is expected to make a return to the lineup which allows Inter’s utility man Matteo Darmian a much deserved rest, at least from start.

Dze-La Instead Of Lu-La

Up front Bosnian veteran striker Edin Dzeko is expected to start instead of all time Belgian national team goalscorer Romelu Lukaku who was sensational against Lazio.

Partnering the former Manchester City man in attack, will be Argentinian FIFA World Cup winner Lautaro Martinez who scored a brace on the weekend against the Biancocelesti.

This means that compatriot Joaquin Correa will start the match on the bench after yet another poor performance in the Serie A.
