Argentinian forward Joaquin Correa will be benched in tonight’s Match Day 33 Serie A Hellas Verona vs Inter Milan clash at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi, kick-off scheduled for 21.00 CET.

This according to yesterday’s print edition of Milan based daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported via Italian Inter Milan news-site FcInterNews.

According to the report, the former Lazio forward’s poor performance in the 3-1 win against his former side has cost him his place in the starting lineup against Hellas Verona.

Simone Inzaghi worked together with Joaquin Correa at the Biancocelesti and was the reason he joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2021 following Romelu Lukaku’s departure.

After scoring a brace on his debut away to Hellas Verona, the former Sevilla forward has failed to impress to put it mildly, in fact calling his move to the Nerazzurri a flop would be a more accurate description.

An Expensive Flop

Joaquin Correa, who signed for Inter from Lazio in a deal reportedly worth around €28 million, has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The former Sampdoria deal with the Nerazzurri is set to expire at the end of June 2025 having signed a three year deal with the club in 2022 after a clause in his loan deal was automatically triggered to become a permanent transfer.

So far this season Correa has nine Serie A starts for Inter Milan, including all of the Nerazzurri’s five Serie A matches in April, without impressing.

In his last start this past weekend he played 61 minutes before being replaced by compatriot Lautaro Martinez, who ended up scoring a brace.

In fact, since signing for Inter Milan in the summer of 2021 the Argentinian forward has featured 71 times across all competitions scoring just the 10 goals in the process.
