Inter Milan bomber Edin Dzeko finally managed to put an end to a goal drought that lasted for more than three months, but he insists that he remained calm despite missing goals.

The Bosnian bagged a brace as the Nerazzurri thrashed their hosts Hellas Verona at the Bentegodi Stadium with six unanswered goals in the midweek round.

The 37-year-old replaced Romelu Lukaku in the starting formation, leading Simone Inzaghi’s lineup alongside Lautaro Martinez, who scored a brace himself.

But while a goal drought always makes for an unpleasant period for any striker, the former Man City and Roma man has enough experience under his belt, so he revealed that he maintained serenity and composure during the difficult moment.

“It’s always a matter of time for the goals to come,” said Dzeko in his post-match interview with Inter TV via FcInterNews.

“It can happen that a striker doesn’t score for a while, but you have to remain calm, because sooner or later the goals will arrive.”

The Bosnian insists that his team’s displays are far more important than personal records, and he’s glad that Inter have hit their stride following a negative period.

“The important thing is that the team is doing well. It’s always difficult for us against lower-ranked teams. but it went well today.

“We already saw it yesterday in training, we told one another that if we play like this we’ll have a great game, and this is how it unfolded.

“In some games, we lacked that extra something. It’s not easy to play every three days, but now it’s almost time and we need to continue like this, we’re showing what a great team we are.”
