Italian Journalist Bruno Longhi believes the Nerazzurri are the strongest Serie A side, including those fighting for the UEFA Champions League qualification.
This according to the journalist analyzing Inter victory over Lazio on the Match Day 32 of 2022/2023 Serie A season on the Mediaset website, as reported by FCInter1908.it.
According to Bruno Longhi, Inter have demonstrated progress in different aspects of their play and also superiority in the recent period’s matches and Simone Inzaghi deserves much credit for so, as the development couldn’t be made only by players.
Longhi, 76, argued the Nerazzurri currently have great players both to line up on the pitch and to come in from the bench. He believed that Belgian Romelu Lukaku has rediscovered his form and that Darmian has made up for Milan Skriniar’s absence.
Lastly, the Italian journalist regarded Simone Inzaghi’s results as ‘generally better’ than those of AC Milan’s Stefano Pioli who – in Longhi’s viewpoint – has not been criticized as much as Inzaghi.
“From the pitch, the indisputable truth has emerged that Simone Inzaghi’s Inter is decidedly the best of the lot. I didn’t just say Inter. I specified: Simone Inzaghi’s Inter.
“Because what the Nerazzurri have shown in this recent period (Empoli, Juventus, and Lazio) in terms of gameplay, results, awareness of their strength, and clear superiority over their opponents cannot be merely the product of individual whims or the result of their improved performance. The coach is involved. Of course, he is.
He added, “Much more than when we roasted him like a pork chop, even though the results were almost always due to his attackers’ incredible aimlessness. Inzaghi’s Inter is now the strongest team in the league. Someone will object, with culpable delay. And I object too.
“But what has been belongs to the past. The accounts, pending the final rush, must be made with the present. Which at Inter cannot help but induce healthy and realistic optimism.
“Defeating and reducing Lazio in such a magnificent way is the hallmark of great teams. And Inter is really great right now. It has everything to believe in everything. Strong starters, reserves worthy of starters. Substitutions (finally) in tune with the needs of the game.
“It has rediscovered Lukaku, and with the versatility of Darmian, it has been able to make up for the prolonged absence of Skriniar, adding to the team what was often lacking on a purely technical level and in the development of the low game.
“Considerations that reassure Marotta on the race for fourth place but do not dispel doubts about the coach’s future. Whose results are generally better than those of Pioli, his counterpart (he also has a Coppa Italia final), who is exempted from criticism or perplexity.
“Yesterday in the dust, today almost at the altar. Simone, like the one in the 1970s song or thereabouts, knows that the dance isn’t over yet. But with this music, he’ll find it easier not to lose his rhythm,” Longhi concluded.
