Inter defender Francesco Acerbi and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu are expected to be rested for the Serie A game against Roma on Saturday.

This according to a report from Milan-based daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by FCInterNews.it.

The Italian newspaper writes that Acerbi will be allowed to rest and that Inter’s backline will be Matteo Darmian, Stefan De Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni. It is also likely that Denziel Dumfries and Federico Dimarco will start as the wingbacks.

There are doubts about Hakan Calhanoglu’s fitness because of muscle injury and Inter are looking to protect him for the UEFA Champions League against AC Milan. In this case, the Milan-based newspaper reports that Marcelo Brozovic will play alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

La Gazzetta dello Sport also reports that Onana will return in goal for Samir Handanovic, who started the game in the 6-0 win against Hellas Verona, and that Nicolo Barella is expected to start in midfield.

The Italian newspaper concludes their report with Romelu Lukaku being favoured to start alongside Joaquin Correa over Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez.
