Inter Milan have not abandoned hopes of building a new stadium at the site of the current Stadio San Siro and sharing it with AC Milan, but have an alternative option if it is not feasible.

This is according to today’s print edition of Milan-based daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported via Milan based Inter Milan news-site FcInterNews.

As per the report, the Nerazzurri are keen to move out of the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza but lengthy plans to build a new ground or find a location have led to long delays, prompting Milan’s mayor Beppe Sala to issue a three-month ultimatum to issue plans.

Milan appear to be focusing on building a new stadium in La Maura, but Inter have not given up hope of securing a new ground in the San Siro area and continuing to share with the Rossoneri.

However, with the Diavolo seemingly unwilling to commit to that, Inter have sounded out a location between Assago and Rozzano to build their stadium, whilst Milan’s plan B focuses on Sesto San Giovanni, as well as San Donato.

Inter have occupied the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza since 1947, whilst Milan first moved into the stadium in 1926.
