Brighton and Hove Albion coach Roberto De Zerbi is unlikely to leave the Premier League club to replace Simone Inzaghi at Inter, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

It is expected that Inzaghi will leave Inter after two years at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, with a disappointing domestic season likely to lead to his departure even if he guides the club to Champions League success.

Writing on Twitter, and as reported via Milan based Inter Milan news-site FcInter1908, Pedulla distanced the Nerazzurri from ex-Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk coach De Zerbi.

Pedulla argued that the Italian tactician was committed to his role in England and had already begun planning for next season, particularly after the signing of Joao Pedro from Watford was confirmed.

Meanwhile, Liverpool midfielder James Milner is closing in on a switch to the AMEX Stadium as a free agent, with Pedulla arguing that this is proof of De Zerbi’s intentions to remain in the Premier League.

“Joao Pedro and probably Milner will be at Brighton from July: further confirmation that De Zerbi has always thought of staying and that the rumours about Inter, even on the eve of a delicate match in the Champions League, were unfounded, disrespectful and fanciful,” the journalist tweeted.

De Zerbi took over at Brighton in September after Graham Potter joined Chelsea, and has guided the Seagulls to sixth place in the Premier League, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
