Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta believes that Inter have prepared for the upcoming Derby della Madonnina against the Rossoneri well after a 2-0 win over Roma in Serie A.

Speaking on Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia yesterday, and as reported by Milan based Inter Milan news-site FCInter1908, Costacurta offered his thoughts on both Inter and his former club ahead of the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday.

Costacurta argued that the Nerazzurri’s win at the Stadio Olimpico was routine and did not force them into anything spectacular, with the only requirement being a high level of physicality, whilst the victory came hours after Milan had beaten Lazio 2-0.

“Inter beat Roma without making any particular effort,” the former Italy international declared.

“It required physical commitment rather than mental, because you are always struggling against Roma. But up against the Giallorossi, the Nerazzurri have shown that they are doing well, even if Milan did the same. It was Milan’s first team though.”

Inter are due to face the Rossoneri on Wednesday before the return leg at the Stadio San Siro on Tuesday 16 May, as they seek a first Champions League final since lifting the trophy under Jose Mourinho in 2010.
