Inter Milan are ready to challenge Serie A rivals Juventus and AC Milan for Villarreal  owned striker Boulaye Dia after his impressive season on loan at Salernitana.

This according to yesterday’s print edition of Rome-based daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport, as reported via Milan based Inter Milan news-site FcInter1908.

According to the report, the Nerazzurri are thought to be in the market for a striker this summer and have emerged as an interested party in Dia.

Inter may send Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea following his loan spell, whilst Edin Dzeko will turn 38 next season, and so Dia could become a key target for the attacking department.

However, they could face stiff competition from Juventus and Milan, as well as Premier League clubs Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United.

Meanwhile, Dia is thought to be happy with life at Salernitana and could be ready to commit his future to the club after striking up a positive relationship with coach Paulo Sousa and sporting director Morgan De Sanctis.

The Granata took Dia on loan from Villarreal and have an option to buy him outright for €12 million, whilst they are in no desperate need to sell to balance their books so could seek to retain the Senegal international rather than move him on immediately.
