Inter Milan have received a boost with the imminent return to fitness of defender Danilo D’Ambrosio who could be fit to face AC Milan, while Robin Gosens is unlikely to be available.

This is according to Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, and as reported by Milan based Inter Milan news-site FCInterNews.

According to the report, D’Ambrosio has stepped up his training over the weekend as he recovers from a muscle injury, and returned to the grass at a competitive pace after a period on the sidelines.

It is becoming increasingly likely that the former Torino defender will be able to join the rest of the squad for Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Inter must overcome city rivals Milan to book a place in the final for the first time since 2010, but the first leg may come too soon for wingback Gosens and he has less chance of being included in Simone Inzaghi’s squad, although his condition will be monitored daily.

The German is nursing a shoulder injury and whilst he is making good progress, Inzaghi is expected to show caution in not picking him this week.
