Football agent Dario Canovi believes that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has done enough to keep his position and lead the club into a third season, but understood the doubts about his future.

In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb, Canovi argued that the former Lazio tactician had protected his job with a recent run of results and impressive performances in cup competitions, with Inter into the semi-finals of the Champions League and the Coppa Italia final, whilst also lifting the Supercoppa Italiana in January.

“The latest results are certainly in his favour. An Inter that has lost more than 10 games must still make us think, whilst being understood that he is doing well in the cups,” Canovi said.

“In any case, I believe that Inter had a team capable of fighting for the title and therefore there may be some doubts.

“Despite this, he’s in the final of the Coppa Italia and he’s in the semi-final of the Champions League, he deserves to stay but I’m of the opinion that after two or three years, either the coach or the players need to be replaced.”

Inzaghi took over at Inter after Antonio Conte departed in 2021, and led the Nerazzurri to second place last season after leading for much of the campaign.

Inter currently sit in fourth place this season, with their 2-0 win over Roma yesterday taking them 18 points behind champions Napoli.
