Ahead of their Champions League semi-final first leg match against Inter on Wednesday, AC Milan are sweating on the fitness of forward Rafael Leao.

As reported by FCInterNews, the Portugal international was forced off in the first half of Milan’s 2-0 win over Lazio in Serie A yesterday and early reports from the club suggest that he has suffered a thigh strain in his right leg.

The Rossoneri are due to monitor Leao’s condition daily as they build up towards a crunch Derby della Madonnina on Wednesday evening, but there is concern that the former Sporting CP forward could miss out after his early departure at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Leao has been in impressive form for Milan with 12 goals and eight assists in Serie A, and his absence is likely to be felt by the Rossoneri as they seek a first Champions League final since 2007.

The 23-year-old joined the Diavolo from Lille in 2019 and has netted 40 goals in 159 appearances, whilst being pivotal to Milan’s Serie A title success last season.
