UEFA have appointed Jesus Gil Manzano as the match official for the clash between AC Milan and Inter Milan in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal.

The Spaniard is 39 years old and has officiated 32 matches across all competitions this season, including five in the Champions League and 17 in La Liga.

His last outing in Europe was Manchester City’s thumping 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the first leg of the UCL quarter-final.

The Spanish referee wasn’t in charge of any Inter match this season, but he officiated Milan’s 3-1 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the group stage.

Manzano handed 26 bookings in his five Champions League outings this season, but is yet to dismiss a player. He pointed towards the spot on a single occasion, giving a penalty kick to Milan (converted by Olivier Giroud).

The 39-year-old will be joined by an entire Spanish crew, as FcInterNews reports. Diego Barbero and Ángel Nevado will be the linesmen with José María Sánchez acting as the fourth official. Juan Martínez Munuera and Alejandro Hernández will be in the VAR room.

While both encounters will be held at the iconic San Siro Stadium, AC Milan will be the official hosts on Wednesday’s first leg, with Inter acting as the designated home side in the return fixture on May 16.
