Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco reveals that he was among the Nerazzurri fans watching in the Giuseppe Meazza stands the last time his team played against Milan in the Champions League.

The two Milanese giants crossed paths in the competition’s semifinal in 2003, and apparently, a young Dimarco was in the stands cheering for the Beneamata.

The Italian wingback was only 6 years old at the time, and sadly for him, the Rossoneri progressed to the final on away goals.

Nonetheless, the 25-year-old has remarkably become a protagonist at his childhood club, and he’ll be looking to avenge his younger self by helping his side overcome its crosstown rival.

“No revenge, it’s been a long time. We’re only thinking about the present, about tomorrow, about getting a positive result and that’s it,” said Dimarco during the pre-match press conference via FcInterNews.

“In 2003 I was at San Siro, I don’t have wonderful memories as a fan. To think that twenty years ago I was a spectator and that tomorrow I’ll be playing on the pitch, it’s an incredible emotion.”

A reporter asked the Italian international if he’s preparing new victory chants to sing along with the Curva Nord.

“No, these chants come genuinely. I’m not thinking about them.”

Dimarco has been a key player for Simone Inzaghi’s team this season, especially in recent weeks. He scored the winner against Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-final and broke the deadlock in last Saturday’s win over Roma.
