Former Inter Milan midfielder Thiago Motta believes there are no favourites in the UEFA Champions League Semifinal between local rivals Inter and A.C. Milan.

The current Bologna manager spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN immediately after his team’s 1-1 draw against Sassuolo in Serie A, as reported by Milan based Inter Milan news-site FCInterNews.

Thiago Motta believes that there are never any favourites for these types of matches.

“These are great games because there are no favorites. You can’t talk about favourites at this level,” stated Motta.

The former Barcelona player was also asked about his opinion on who should start upfront for Inter for the game on Wednesday.

“Lukaku or Dzeko upfront? I have no idea,” concluded the former PSG player.

Thiago Motta started his Serie A career with Gian Piero Gasperini’s Genoa in 2008 where he made twenty-seven appearances and scored six goals.

Along with future Inter Milan star Diego Milito, Motta helped Genoa to finish fifth in Serie A that season.

The Ital0-Brazilian player move to Inter the following season and stayed for three years where he won the treble in 2010 with manager Jose Mourinho.
