Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana doesn’t mind not having a lot to do if his teammates do all the defensive work ahead of him.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win over AC Milan in the Champions League, via FCInterNews, the Cameroonian joked about his quiet evening in the derby triumph.

Whilst Onana did have a couple of fairly routine saves to make, he was not called to be at his best.

The ex-Ajax man has been a key player for Inter in the Champions League knockout rounds so far.

However, Onana’s heroics from previous ties against Porto and Benfica did not need to be repeated in the much-hyped derby clash against Milan.

This was because the ten outfield players ahead of the 27-year-old managed to put up a defensive fortress which prevented the man between the posts from facing too many shots.

After the match, Onana joked that “I hope that we can keep this up, with me calm between the posts and my teammates doing all the work.”

The Cameroonian was also clear about the first-leg semifinal victory that “This win is a step forward for us, but we still have to finish the job next week.”

Andre Onana: Inter’s Champions League Hero

Whilst Andre Onana didn’t have a chance to show his best against the Rossoneri yesterday evening, he has been absolutely crucial in the Champions League this season for Inter.

The Cameroonian made vital saves to preserve two clean sheets in a gritty 1-0 aggregate win over Porto in the round of sixteen.

In the quarterfinals Onana made a crucial stop on Goncalo Ramos in the final stages of a 2-0 first leg win over Benfica.

The former Ajax man is the subject of Premier League interest, with Chelsea in particular keen on his signature.

However, the Blues must table a €60 million fee despite Inter signing Onana on a free transfer last summer.
