Former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi feels that Inter Milan’s 2-0 Champions League win over AC Milan was well-deserved.

Sacchi expressed this in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported via Milan based Inter Milan news-site FCInter1908.

There Arrigo Sacchi suggested that now Inter Milan have one foot in the final of the competition winning 2-0 yesterday over AC Milan.

Whilst a victory over city rivals the Rossoneri is always highly significant for the Nerazzurri, it could hardly have come on a bigger stage.

The Nerazzurri could well book their place in the biggest match in European club competition if they’re to see out the tie.

In what was roundly predicted to be a match where any outcome would be possible, Inter did well to take control of the match particularly in the first half.

The balance of the chances went the way of Simone Inzaghi’s team, who raced to a 2-0 lead early on in the match.

From the perspective of former Rossoneri coach Sacchi, it was a fair result that reflected how each of the two sides played on the pitch.

Arrigo Sacchi – Inter Milan One Foot In Champions League Final

Sacchi writes that Inter have “More than one foot in the final.”

“Even though in football you can never say it’s over, there are so many factors that make it seem like Inter have taken a big step towards Istanbul.”

“The 2-0 win in the derby against Milan sends a very clear message,” he continues.

“The Nerazzurri deserved the win, also because in the first half the Rossoneri barely seemed to show up on the pitch,” Sacchi suggests.

The legendary former coach argues that “Pioli’s team were virtually unrecognizable to me.”

“They conceded two goals, but they could have conceded many more, and if they only went in 2-0 down at halftime it was only because of the generosity of Inter who could’ve scored more from the chances that they had” Sacchi concluded.
