Inter Milan striker Edin Dzeko feels that the team’s concentration was the key to their Champions League win over Milan.
Speaking to UEFA TV after the match, via FCInterNews, the 37-year-old stressed the Nerazzurri’s focus in the 2-0 victory.
Inter virtually had two entirely separate challenges across the two halves of yesterday evening’s match.
In the first period, the Nerazzurri had to keep their foot on the pedal when they were the team playing with the initiative.
Then, in the second, Inter had to cope with a Milan team who looked fresher and more organized.
Whilst Inter could’ve perhaps grabbed a couple more goals from the first half, they did enough to score twice and build up an advantage.
Then, in the second, the Nerazzurri weather the storm from a Rossoneri side who chased the game well.
All of it was enough to ensure that Inter head into the second leg of the tie with an advantage to protect.
There will be a lot more concentration and physical exertion needed in the second leg next Tuesday.
There is little doubt that the Rossoneri will throw the kitchen sink at Inter to try and overturn things.
However, Inter already proved yesterday evening that when they do stay switched-on, they can keep their city rivals under control.
Inter Milan The Fresher Side, Edin Dzeko Suggests
Striker Dzeko gave the view that “I felt fresher, maybe because I rested three days ago.”
“Not only me, but the whole team was very charged up, playing in a Champions League semifinal derby doesn’t happen every day,” he continued.
“We prepared for it well, we all concentrated from first to the last minute and this paid off in the end.”
