Inter Milan’s veteran Italian defender Francesco Acerbi believes that the Nerazzurri have a fifty percent chances in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League Final following their 2-0  first leg win against local rivals AC Milan.

Inter defender Francesco Acerbi spoke to Italian broadcaster Inter TV following Inter Milan‘s 2-0 victory in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League, as reported by Milan based Inter Milan news-site FCInterNews.

The Lazio owned defender believes that the Nerazzurri have a 50% chance in qualifying for the Champions League Final.

This despite having beaten AC Milan 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal, after goals from Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

“Everyone thought we would not make it out of the group stage. But we believed and that is all that matters.

We played a great game and it is a pity about the second half where we almost conceded a goal. We have not completed anything yet, as we have a 50% chance in qualifying for the next round,” said Acerbi.

Francesco Acerbi – ‘Can’t Afford Any Mistakes’

The Inter defender believes there is no room for error and a big blow to fumble a 2-0 lead.

“We can’t commit any mistakes in the return leg, because we are not yet qualified. We must now think about Sassuolo and then concentrate on the next game.

“It would be a big blow if we were to lose after a 2-0 lead. We have to be even more attentive in order to qualify against a great Milan team,” concluded the Inter defender.

Francesco Acerbi, who is currently on loan from Lazio, has been an important addition for the Nerazzurri this season.

He has featured 41 times across all competitions this season scoring one goal and contributed with one assist.

Inter host AC Milan in the return leg on May 16th at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, kick-off scheduled for 21.00 CET.
