Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar feels Edin Dzeko’s movement makes him a hard striker to defend against.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win over AC Milan, via FCInter1908, the Brazilian praised Dzeko’s style of play.

Edin Dzeko proved to be Inter’s match-winner in yesterday’s derby, with his volley opening the scoring early on.

The Bosnian gave the team a lot more than just his goal, however.

Throughout the first half in particular, Dzeko was at the heart of the Nerazzurri’s attacking possession.

The 37-year-old former Roma and Manchester City man’s contribution didn’t just come with the ball, however.

Whilst Dzeko’s strength and technical ability were certainly an asset when he had the ball, the striker also gave the Rossoneri backline a torrid time when he didn’t have the ball as well.

Both in open space and in tighter corridors, Dzeko kept wriggling into positions where he wasn’t marked.

This proved to be a vital component of Inter’s territorial control and fluidity in possession.

When the Bosnian was on the receiving end of passes, he usually seemed to be perfectly positioned to create danger.

Moreover, Dzeko’s movement opened up spaces for his strike partner Lautaro Martinez, and also for midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

For his part, Treble-winning former goalkeeper Cesar saw Dzeko’s movement as key to Inter’s victory.

Julio Cesar heaps praise on Inter Milan striker Edin Dzeko

“Dzeko scored the goal of a born striker,” former Inter goalkeeper Cesar said.

“With his movement he’s so hard to mark, he gets these chances.”

“Maigan can’t do anything about his shot,” the former goalkeeper said of Rossoneri keeper Mike Maignan.

Of the match as a whole, Cesar said that “Inter started strong and then in the second half dropped off, then Milan got better.”

“In the second half both teams dropped off due to fatigue though,” he added.
