Legendary former Inter and Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o feels that experience was vital in the Nerazzurri’s win over AC Milan.

Speaking to Amazon Prime, via FCInter1908, the Cameroonian emphasized the role that greater top level experience played in the 2-0 Champions League first leg victory.

Both of Inter’s goals yesterday evening came from two of their most experienced players.

Both of Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have played at this level plenty of times.

In both cases, that experience showed as the former Roma pair were the two coolest heads in the San Siro to take their early chances.

For the first half in particular, the Nerazzurri looked like the team who were more comfortable on the big stage.

Then, in the second half, Inter were organized and physically rugged when they had a lot more defending to do.

A 2-0 advantage is not an unassailable lead to take into the second leg by any means, but it gives the Nerazzurri confidence.

Inter’s players will feel that they’ve already shown they have what it takes.

Meanwhile, Milan could be questioning whether they have the experience

Inter Milan Legend Samuel Eto’o Feels Experience Key

Treble-winning former striker Eto’o noted that “Players aged 34 and 37 made the difference.”

“Experienced weighed a lot on it,” he went on.

“Inter are a great team,” the Cameroonian said after the performance, “now their focus has to go to Sassuolo.”

“They could have scored a third goal, but that’s football.”
