Former Inter Milan defender Antonio Paganin feels that the Nerazzurri’s Serie A form is a major regret.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, via FCInterNews, Paganin questioned why the derby wins couldn’t translate to better league form.

Inter have now won three consecutive derby matches against AC Milan.

These victories have come in three different competitions.

Whilst the Nerazzurri lost the first league meeting with their city rivals, wins in the Supercoppa Italiana, Serie A, and now the Champions League semifinals have established a pattern of superiority in derby meetings.

This will make it somewhat mystifying that Inter are only a couple points ahead of Milan in the league table.

The Nerazzurri have endured a couple woeful runs of form in the league in different periods of the season.

This has meant that whilst there have been some great individual performances, there’s been little consistency.

Moreover, Inter have been at their best on the biggest stage, and often flattered to deceive against “smaller” teams.

Inter Milan’s Serie A Regret Raise Questions About Simone Inzaghi

Former Inter defender Paganin argued that “I’m still not convinced by Inzaghi.”

“You look at the direction of the team, and it’s like they need separate coaches for the league and cup competitions.”

“At the end of the day, there are eleven league defeats,” Paganin said.

“And then you look at the performances against Milan, who’d need a miracle in the Champions League.”

“Dimarco said they sometimes think too far ahead of themselves,” he continued.

“And who is it that’s supposed to keep the team on track in the league?” Paganin posed.

“It’s the coach who’s supposed to be the one motivating the players.”

“If you’re losing against Spezia and Empoli, it means that there’s something missing,” Paganin hinted.

Inter currently sit fourth in the Serie A table.

The Nerazzurri are just a point behind Lazio and three behind Juventus, but can feel Milan breathing down their necks.
