Salernitana are ready to sign defender Lorenzo Pirola from Inter on a permanent basis.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Granata have informed the Nerazzurri that they intend to make Pirola’s loan move permanent.

Pirola joined Salernitana on loan last summer.

As part of the loan deal, the Granata have a purchase option to sign the 21-year-old permanently for a fee of €5 million.

Inter Milan Could Lose Lorenzo Pirola Permanently

Given that Pirola’s performances over the second half of the season have convince Salernitana, the club are ready to make the defender’s stay permanent.

FCIN report that Salernitana Sporting Director Morgan De Sanctis telephoned Inter executives Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio to inform them of such.

Now, Inter are set to pocket €5 million from a sale of Pirola.

However, it will come at the cost of losing a promising young defender.

The Nerazzurri have a buyback clause worth €13 million should they wish to bring Pirola back after Salernitana sign him.

However, particularly given their financial situation, Inter are unlikely to wish to invest €8 million in such an operation.

On the other hand, there could be a deal involving players going the other way to bring Pirola back, FCIN suggest.

As far as the player’s decision, Pirola will know that he will receive more playing time at Salernitana than he would at Inter.

Salernitana Beat Signed Lorenzo Pirola From Inter Milan Ahead Of Monza Last Summer

The Italy youth international had spent the previous two seasons on loan with Monza.

Pirola had played an important role in helping the Brianzoli to promotion to Serie A.

However, Monza decided against signing Pirola on a permanent basis for their first season in the Italian top flight.

Instead, it was Salernitana who stepped up with interest and got the deal done.
