Inter Milan have made Tigre and Italy striker Mateo Retegui their top target in attack this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 23-year-old is the player who the Nerazzurri will go after to take the place of Joaquin Correa in their squad.

There is almost certain to be movement in Inter’s attack this summer transfer window.

It is hardly certain that striker Romelu Lukaku will stay after his loan from Chelsea expires. This would particularly be the case if incoming Blues coach Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep the Belgian.

Elsewhere in the Nerazzurri’s attack, Joaquin Correa will likely leave. The Argentine has never really found form since joining from Lazio in the summer of 2021.

Correa’s time at Inter is likely up. This means that at least one spot will be open in the Nerazzurri’s attack.

According to Tuttosport, the club know who they want to go after to reinforce in forward areas.

Inter Milan Line Up Argentine Top Flight Goal Machine Mateo Retegui

Recently-minted Italian international Retegui is top of Inter’s list to strengthen in attack for next season.

The 23-year-old is currently the Argentine first division’s top scorer. Retegui’s form earned him a call-up to Roberto Mancini’s Italy international squad during the most recent international break.

Retegui started twice for the Azzurri, and found the back of the net in both appearances.

This has led to plenty of interest in Retegui’s signature from around Europe. Inter have been foremost among the clubs linked.

According to Tuttosport, there is an informal accord between the Nerazzurri and the player’s entourage.

Meanwhile, as Gianluca Di Marzio has reported, Retegui would cost around €20 million.

This is a steep increase from what the 23-year-old would have costed just a few months ago. However, the Nerazzurri are willing to make the investment as they see Retegui as a major target.

Moreover, Inter striker Facundo Colidio is currently on loan at Retegui’s club Tigre. The Argentine side want to sign Colidio permanently, and he could figure into a deal for Retegui.
