Inter Milan President Steven Zhang believes that Simone Inzaghi will remain as coach of the club for many more seasons to come.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri President gave an emphatic hint regarding the coach’s future at the club.

Simone Inzaghi has responded to his critics loudly and clearly. The 47-year-old has guided Inter to the biggest match in European club competition in his second season in charge.

Inzaghi has come in for no shortage of criticism across his two seasons in charge so far. Particularly this campaign, with eleven losses in Serie A, the coach has faced real questions about his future.

However, Zhang backs Inzaghi.

The coach has gotten Inter to within ninety minutes of European glory, less than twenty-four months after arriving from Lazio.

“Inzaghi is special,” he said, He’s very calm no matter the context, whether you win or lose, he remains calm.”

“That’s a special quality,” Zhang said of the coach’s composure. “And then he’s the only one who never asks me for players.”

Zhang noted that “We’re in the Champions League final, and it’s something incredible which doesn’t happen every season.”

“Thanks to the coach and staff who’ve done everything right to get to the final.”

Asked if he thinks Inter can win the final, Zhang replied “Anything is possible.”

“Anything can happen in ninety minutes. We believe in it.”

Asked if he’s spoken to his father Zhang Xindong yet, the Inter President said “Later. He’s certainly seen the match. He goes to bed very late so he can watch the matches, and if we don’t win he puts pressure on me.”

“There are players here who had never played in the Champions League, and we’ve made this dream possible.”

The Nerazzurri President argued that “We’ve done our job by bringing Inter back to the top. As long as we’re here we’ll work to keep Inter in this position.”

And regarding the club’s transfer strategy, Zhang said that “The transfer market is always about improving.”

“Sometimes it depends on which opportunities present themselves,” he continued.
