Juventus Legend Praises Inter Milan & Man City: ‘Two Best Teams Arrived In Champions League Final’

Legendary former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio feels that Inter Milan and Man City are both in the Champions League final deservedly.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI, via FCInterNews, Marchisio gave his thoughts on the two finalists in Europe’s top club competition.

Inter and City are the two teams left standing in the Champions League.

The pair have survived the group stage, the round of sixteen, the quarterfinals, and the semifinals. They will meet one another in the final of the competition in Istanbul on June 10.

Whilst there is always some luck involved in getting to this point, both of the pair have had to overcome numerous obstacles.

Whilst City will be regarded by many as clear favourites in the final, both sides are battle-tested. Each have had to eliminate some of Europe’s best and most in-form sides along the way here.

For City, the likes of German giants Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Bayern Munich before seeing off Real Madrid in the semifinals in emphatic fashion.

Inter, meanwhile, knocked out Barcelona from their group. Then, ties against Portuguese giants Porto and Benfica. In the semifinals, the Nerazzurri overcame city rivals AC Milan in a two-legged derby tie.

Former Juventus midfielder Marchisio was asked about the two teams in the final. The former Italian international made almost four hundred appearances for the Bianconeri as a player.

“It’ll be a good match,” Marchisio said of the final, “and for me the two most in-form teams arrived at the final.”

“To me, both Inter and City deserve to be in the final.”

In terms of the tactical side of things, the former Juventus midfielder said that “Inzaghi does very well against the toughest opposition. He’s demonstrated this throughout the Champions League, and also in the league where their fitness has improved over time.”

“The forwards in particular have gotten back to their best,” Marchisio noted.

“The wingbacks will be decisive in the 3-5-2, going up against City’s pace.”
