Legendary former Inter, Napoli, and Lazio forward Goran Pandev feels Inter Milan must back themselves against Man City.

Speaking to Italian journalist Gianluca Rossi, via FCInterNews, the Macedonian argued that the Nerazzurri should have confidence and belief that they can win in the Champions League final next month in Istanbul.

Inter will be well aware of how difficult of an opponent Manchester City will be in the Champions League final.

Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens made a real statement of intent by thrashing Real Madrid 4-0 in their semifinal second leg.

However, Inter have their own impressive run to get to the final. The Nerazzurri have seen off Barcelona, Porto, Benfica, and AC Milan to book their place in Istanbul.

Ultimately, Inter will have to find the right balance between confidence and wariness of the challenge they face.

In the view of Pandev, however, the emphasis should be on confidence and believing in their chances.

Pandev: Inter Must Believe Vs Man City

Legendary former forward Pandev knows what it’s like to win the Champions League.

The Macedonian went all the way with the Nerazzurri in 2010. That was part of the European Treble that Inter won during the 2009-10 season.

Asked if he thinks the Nerazzurri can follow suit this year, Pandev replied “Definitely yes. Inter have to believe in it.”

“They deservedly made it to the final, because winning two is never easy.”

“Consider what they’ll have been feeling behind it all, the pressure.”

“All the talk of the derby and the revenge after so many years of elimination with those two draws in the semifinals that took Milan to the final.”

“It wasn’t easy, but Inter proved that they’re a strong team,” Pandev described Inter going through against Milan.

“Only a strong team can win two matches like that.”
