Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana has slight fever symptoms ahead of this evening’s Serie A clash away to Napoli.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have a number of selection decisions to make in this evening’s match.
First, there is the goalkeeping position.
In recent league matches, the coach has also given captain Samir Hadnanovic a chance.
The 38-year-old is now backup to Onana, who established himself as first-choice during the fall.
Inter Star Andre Onana With Slight Fever Symptons Ahead Of Napoli Clash
It is not certain that either goalkeeper will start this evening against the Partenopei.
However, according to the Corriere della Sera, Onana’s condition could be a factor in Inzaghi’s decision.
According to the newspaper, the Cameroonian is currently suffering from slight fever symptoms.
Whilst it is hardly guaranteed that this will rule Onana out, Inzaghi may decide to give him a rest. In this case, it would be Handanovic who starts between the posts, as he did against Sassuolo last weekend.
Significant Rotation Expected In Midfield
The Corriere della Sera also note that Inter will play a significantly rotated midfield this evening.
The injury to Henrikh Mhitaryan has been something of a fly in the ointment for Inzaghi and Inter.
Whilst the Armenian is hoping to return in time to play in the Champions League final against Manchester City, there is no certainty of this. Moreover, Mkhitaryan will not be available for any of the matches before then.
Therefore, Inzaghi will be thinking a lot about managing the fitness of the midfielders who are available.
The first-choice trio of Nicolo Barella, and Marcelo Brozovic, and Hakan Calhanoglu cannot be overused in this period.
Accordingly, the Corriere della Sera predicts, Roberto Gagliardini and Kristjan Asllani could be given a chance.
