Chelsea owned striker Romelu Lukaku is ready to reduce his wages to stay at Inter Milan next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Belgian would be ready to take a pay cut which would be one of the conditions that would allow him to remain at the San Siro for another season at least.

At the moment, Lukaku looks to be playing for his future at Inter

The 30-year-old is expected to start against Napoli this evening. This will be the first of five matches in which Lukaku can potentially make an impact.

The striker knows that impressing across his final matches for the Nerazzurri could be vital for convincing the club.

If Lukaku can help Inter to silverware in the final few weeks of the season, it would certainly be a boost for his chances.

As such, the Gazzetta notes that Lukaku is keen to start against Manchseter City in the Champions League final next month.

Chelsea Star Lukaku Prepared To Accept Inter Milan Wages

The end of the season that Inter and Lukaku have will determine a lot about the striker’s future.

If Lukaku can power the Nerazzurri to a top four finish and trophies, it would make everything a lot easier in the summer.

However, the financial side of things also looms. As the Gazzetta notes, Inter will only bring Lukaku back if it is under certain financial parameters.

One of the main ones concerns the Belgian’s wages. Even with the tax benefits of the Growth Decree, Lukaku still earns wages that fall outside Inter’s wage structure.

The Nerazzurri do not want to accommodate this next season. As such they will ask the 30-year-old to take a wage cut.

According to the Gazzetta, Lukaku would be happy to do so. The striker is eager to do whatever it takes to stay next season.

Meanwhile, Inter and Chelsea would also likely have to agree different terms on a loan deal for the Belgian.

Last summer the clubs agreed a paid loan deal worth €8 million. The Nerazzurri would expect a lower fee this time around.
