The agent of Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan expects that the Armenian will be fit for the upcoming Champions League final against Manchester City.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, Mkhitaryan’s agent Rafaela Pimenta also expressed the hope that the 34-year-old could extend his contract with the Nerazzurri past the end of next June.

Mkhitaryan is currently out with a thigh injury, as Inter have confirmed.

The former Roma, Arsenal, and Manchester United man picked up the problem late during the first half of the Nerazzurri’s Champions League semifinal second leg win over AC Milan.

Mkhitaryan is currently working to get back to fitness. However, there looks to be next to no chance whatsoever of seeing the Armenian back on the pitch before June 10.

Inter have two more matches on the way in Serie A – against Atalanta and Torino. And, before then, there is this Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina.

For her part, Pimenta expects that the 34-year-old will be part of the squad for the Champions League final.

“I’ve heard from him in the past few days,” she said when asked about Mkhitaryan’s fitness for Istanbul. “I think in the end he’ll be able to recover and be on the pitch.”

Mkhitaryan has been a key player for Inter this season. The ex-Giallorossi man has made a total of 48 appearances so far across all competitions.

The Nerazzurri certainly would get a boost from having the Armenian back fit for the match against Manchester City.

Pimenta also spoke about Mkhitaryan’s contract at Inter.

The 34-year-old’s current deal runs until the end of next June. Mkhitaryan joined on a free transfer from Roma last summer, signing a two-year deal.

“As far as whether he signs a new deal, you’ll have to ask Inter,” Pimenta said. “I hope so.”

“He’s happy with life in Italy. When you do well in a work environment, it’s a sign that you’re happy there.”

“The fact that Henrikh is in great form at the moment is a sign of the fact that he’s doing very well at Inter,” she added.
