Legendary former Juventus and Partenopei defender Ciro Ferrara feels that losing to Napoli over the weekend won’t affect the morale of Inter Milan ahead of this evening’s Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina.

Speaking on the official channel of Serie A, via FCInter1908, Ferrara suggested that Inter’s confidence hasn’t taken a big hit.

Inter had been riding high going into Sunday evening’s clash with Napoli.

The Nerazzurri had won eight matches in a row across all competitions before Sunday’s match. Moreover, this sequence had seen Inter reach the finals of both the Coppa Italia and the Champions League.

However, Inter started with a heavily-rotated lineup at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Moreover, a first-half red card to midfielder Roberto Gagliardini was always likely to make the Nerazzurri’s lives that much harder.

In the end, even though Romelu Lukaku equalized late, Napoli triumph. This season’s Serie A champions showed their quality, as well as the value of a man advantage, to dispatch Inter 3-1.

The worry now could be that Sunday’s loss will affect Inter’s mindset. Particularly given that such an important match as the Coppa Italia is just around the corner.

Ferrara: Napoli Loss Won’t Dent Inter Milan Confidence Much

For his part, however, Ferrara feels that this won’t be too much of a worry.

Of how both Inter and Fiorentina go into tomorrow’s final, the former defender said that “They’re two teams who are doing well in terms of their physical condition.”

“Inter’s defeat in Naples hasn’t affected the morale of the Nerazzurri,” Ferrara continued. “Particularly considering that that was a very heavily rotated team.”

“[This evening] they won’t be like that,” he predicted of the Nerazzurri compared to Sunday’s match.

“On the other hand, Fiorentina have had an incredible season,” he added. “And Italiano has given them a style of play that combines quality and quantity.”
