Legendary former Inter Milan midfielder Evaristo Beccalossi feels that the Nerazzurri will be in for a tough match against Fiorentina.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Bruno, via FCInterNews, Beccalossi predicted that whilst Inter are a strong side, La Viola’s enthusiasm will cause them to give something extra in this evening’s Coppa Italia final.
Both Inter and Fiorentina will certainly have no lack of motivation this evening.
For the Nerazzurri, this match represents the first of two remaining opportunities to win silverware this season. The same can be said of La Viola.
In Inter’s case, the Nerazzurri already won this competition last season. Accordingly, they will feel the pressure to defend their crown.
Meanwhile, in the case of Fiorentina, they will know full well what this represents. The Tuscans have not won a trophy in 22 years, and so this will feel almost like a once-in-a-lifetime chance.
On paper, Inter are perhaps favourites going into this evening’s final.
The Nerazzurri are six positions higher in the Serie A table than their rivals. They are also Champions League finalists.
However, Inter will remember full well how Fiorentina beat them in the last meeting between the two sides. La Viola ran out 1-0 winners from the San Siro in a Serie A match last month.
Moreover, Vincenzo Italiano’s team will be playing with a sense that they could make history if they do something special at the Olimpico tonight.
Beccalossi: Inter Milan Can’t Underestimate Fiorentina
“We’ve always seen matches full of goals when these two teams have faced each other,” former Nerazzurri midfielder Beccalossi said.”
“Inter are in good form right now, but La Viola’s enthusiasm shouldn’t be underestimated,” he continued.
“When Fiorentina get going, they can cause problems for anyone,” he added. “Even if sometimes they seem to go missing a bit on the pitch.”
