Italy coach Roberto Mancini feels Inter Milan should not be ruled out against Man City in the Champions League final.

Speaking to reporters, via FCInterNews, the coach who has been in charge of both the Nerazzurri and the Cityzens in the past, emphasized that whilst many see City as big favourites, Inter can certainly have their say.

Inter are just over two weeks away from facing City in European club football’s biggest match.

Given the strength of this City side, who demolished Real Madrid 4-0, few are naming the Nerazzurri as favourites.

Pep Guardiola’s team have just been crowned champions in the Premier League for the fifth time in the last six seasons. Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri are still clinging on to a spot in the top four of the Serie A table.

On the other hand, though, Inter have developed a real reputation for giving their best in cup competitions under Simone Inzaghi.

That was certainly on show in the Coppa Italia yesterday evening. The Nerazzurri saw off Fiorentina 2-1 to win the competition for the second season in a row.

Moreover, the Champions League has proven the real showcase for Inter this season.

The Nerazzurri have overcome the likes of Barcelona, Porto, Benfica, and AC Milan to reach the final.

Mancini: Don’t Underestimate Inter Milan Against Man City

For his part, Italy coach Mancini certainly isn’t ruling Inter out.

The Azzurri boss expects that the Nerazzurri will have something to say even if Pep Guardiola’s team start as favourites.

“Many people are taking the Champions League final for granted,” Mancini said. “But my opinion is that it’s not going to be so obvious.”

“City will have an advantage,” he continued, “it will be a very open match.”

“Inter’s style of play can cause them problems,” Mancini suggested.
