Atalanta defender Rafael Toloi believes that Inter Milan are capable of winning the Champions League this season.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, the 32-year-old Italian international stressed the quality of the Nerazzurri’s squad as being a reason why they could hope to win Europe’s biggest club competition in the final against Man City next month.

Inter are now only a couple of weeks away from the Champions League final.

The clash with City in Istanbul on June 10 will represent a real culmination of the Nerazzurri’s season.

Inter have managed to get this far, although they are still considered to be big underdogs by many.

The quality of City could certainly be unlike anything the Nerazzurri have faced to date. Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens blew away Real Madrid by a 4-0 scoreline in the semifinal second leg.

Morever, City are Premier League champions for the fifth time in six seasons – no mean feat coming during a period when the English top flight is arguably stronger than it has ever been in the past.

However, for his part, Italian international Toloi is confident.

Atalanta & Italy Stalwart Toloi: Inter Milan Can Win UCL

Toloi and his Atalanta teammates will have to think about facing Inter first.

The 32-year-old is expecting “A difficult match because they’re a strong team.”

“They’re in the final of the Champions League, and they could win it. They have a strong squad.”

“It will be a battle,” Toloi said of facing the Nerazzurri at the San Siro tomorrow evening in Serie A. “But we’ll certainly go into it with the aim of doing our best.”

The 32-year-old also gave his thoughts on the fact that each of the three European finals this season has an Italian team in it.

“It’s a source of prestige,” Toloi said. “It shows that football here is returning to the level it once was at.”
