Legendary former Inter, AC Milan, Roma, Real Madrid, and Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano feels that Man City are favourites in the Champions League final next month, but that Inter Milan can have a chance playing on the counterattack.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, via FCInter1908, Cassano gave his thoughts on how the final will play out tactically.

Inter will know exactly what they’re up against in Istanbul next month.

Manchester City have earned a reputation as, if not the strongest team in Europe, certainly one of the top two or three.

The Cityzens have looked dominant, and borderline unstoppable, with their possession and intense coordinated pressing.

However, the Nerazzurri have already proven that they can be a match for teams that play with possession. Wins against Barcelona and Napoli this season have proven that.

Moreover, the Nerazzurri could take a page from their former coach Antonio Conte. The 53-year-old has proven successful against this City team on a number of occasions.

Cassano: Man City Favourites But Inter Milan Can “Counterattack With Courage”

Former Inter forward Cassano made clear that “Man City are the favourites. They’re the strongest team in the world.”

He argued that “Inter will have to counterattack with courage, with three or four players. They can’t allow City to take the lead.”

“The longer the match goes, the more the Nerazzurri can play for it.”

Asked if he’d take the match going to penalty kicks, Cassano replied that “I’d sign for that right now.”

“City are favourites,” he reiterated. “Inter will play a match of waiting and hitting them on the break.”

“Plus, there will be decisive moments,” he added. “Fingers crossed and hope for the best.”

He also noted that “City lost home and away against Brentford, who play with a back three. Maybe it’s a coincidence, but they play the same formation as Inter.”
