Inter Milan are set to play in their home shirts in the Champions League final against Man City next month.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that UEFA are likely to approve the Nerazzurri to play in their iconic black and blue stripes in Istanbul on June 10.

In next month’s final, Manchester City will nominally play as the home side.

This means that the Cityzens will play in their home kit for the match. Pep Guardiola’s men will line up wearing their sky blue home shirts.

The question then becomes whether UEFA will allow Inter to play in their home shirt, or switch to an away or third kit.

This is decided based on whether the Nerazzurri’s home kit is deemed to be too similar to that of opponents City.

On the one hand, Inter’s home shirt does prominently feature the colour blue. This means that there is obviously some visual similarity to City’s home kit.

On the other, the two shades of blue are drastically different hues. Moreover, the presence of black stripes on the Nerazzurri’s home shirt heightens the visual contrast with that of City.

UEFA Likely To Approve Inter Milan To Play In Home Shirt Vs Man City

According to the Gazzetta, UEFA are likely to decide to allow Inter to play in their home shirt next month.

Approval is still pending. However., the sense is that UEFA will deem it a significant enough visual contrast from City’s home shirt to be permissible.

Should Inter not receive approval to play the match in their home kit, the Gazzetta report, they will switch to their all-yellow second kit.

Inter played the away legs against both Porto and Benfica in away and third kits respectively. On the other hand, the Nerazzurri wore the black and blue stripes in both legs against AC Milan.
