The agent of Lazio owned defender Francesco Acerbi expects talks with Lazio to be postponed until after the Champions League final.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TuttoMercatoWeb, 35-year-old’s agent Federico Pastorello emphasized that right now the focus is on the final.

Acerbi is one of a number of Inter players whose future is uncertain beyond the end of the current season.

In the 35-year-old defender’s case, this is because the Nerazzurri don’t actually own his contract.

Acerbi joined Inter on loan from a one-season loan deal from Lazio on the final day of last summer transfer window. Accordingly, the former Sassuolo man’s loan is set to run out at the end of next month.

Inter would, however, by all reports like to keep hold of Acerbi.

The 35-year-old has been a hugely important presence at the centre of the Nerazzurri’s backline all season.

However, Inter do not want to pay the €4 million purchase option that is in Acerbi’s loan deal.

Accordingly, there will have to be negotiations between Inter and Lazio to work out terms on a deal if Acerbi is to join on a permanent basis during the summer.

Reportedly, the Biancocelesti may be interested in signing midfielder Giovanni Fabbian as part of a deal for Acerbi.

Pastorello: Inter Milan & Lazio To Hold Acerbi Talks After UCL Final

According to Acerbi’s agent, however, everything will have to wait a little while longer.

The reason for this is that, at the moment, the priorities are elsewhere.

Whilst Inter will be keen to secure Acerbi’s future, everyone wants to avoid distractions from off the pitch.

The defender’s agent Pastorello explained that “His contract is about to expire.”

“There are negotiations ongoing with Inter, but since the Champions League final is yet to be displayed, the players are concentrated on that.”

“The discussions are postponed until after the final in Istanbul on June 10,” he added.
