Inter Milan Vice-President Javier Zanetti feels that the fact that three Serie A teams have reached European finals this season represents an important step forward, but that more progress is still needed from Italian football.

Speaking to Italian news outlet PlanetWin365.ews, the Nerazzurri Vice-President gave his thoughts on the fact that the Nerazzurri as well as Roma and Fiorentina are all playing for silverware on the continental stage at the climax of this season.

Next month, Inter will have the chance to play for European club football’s most important trophy.

However, they won’t be the first Italian team to play for silverware in Europe this season.

Tomorrow evening, Roma will go head to had with Sevilla. The Spaniards have a reputation as kings of the Europa League, but the Giallorossi will have a chance to win that trophy for the first time.

Then, Fiorentina will face Premier League side West Ham United in the Europa Conference League final.

Finally, on June 10, Inter will travel to Istanbul where they’ll face Manchester City in the Champions League final.

Inter Milan Vice-President Javier Zanetti Feels Italian Football’s Taken An Important Step

The fact that Italian football is represented in all three European finals has certainly aroused interest in Serie A. This is the case in Italy, but also all throughout Europe.

The prestige of Serie A has not exactly been at its highest in recent seasons.

However, all of the Nerazzurri, the Giallorossi, and La Viola are doing what they can to change that.

“We hope this will be a starting point for Italian football to return to competing at this level,” said Inter Vice-President Zanetti.

“The fact that three clubs have reached the three European finals is very significant,” he continued. “But we need to maintain this trend and give continuity to it.”

“We know that there’s still a lot to work needed compared to the Premier League and the Bundesliga,” he noted.

“But the fact that we’re now back at such a high level is certainly an important step.”
