Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan will start for Inter Milan in the Champions League final against Man City if he’s fully fit.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews.

Mkhitaryan is currently recovering from a quadriceps injury. The Armenian suffered a strain to the rectus femoris muscle in his left thigh during the Nerazzurri’s Champions League semifinal second leg win over AC Milan.

Now, the 34-year-old former Roma and Arsenal man is working on his recovery with the Champions League final as his target.

Mkhitaryan should return to full training soon. The Armenian’s aim is not just to recover from his injury. He wants to be fully match-fit for the clash with Man City.

Mkhitaryan Aiming To Start For Inter Milan Vs Man City

Ex-Man United and Borussia Dortmund star Mkhitaryan has been one of the key players in Inzaghi’s team so far this season. Mkhitaryan has made 48 appearances across all competitions so far this campaign. He has scored five goals in the process.

Moreover, the 34-year-old has been vital throughout Inter’s Champions League campaign.

His goal against Milan in the semifinals underlined his importance..

Accordingly, it is little surprise that Mkhitaryan is pushing to be fit for next weekend’s clash with City.

The Corriere della Sera report that if Mkhitaryan is fully fit then he’ll start against the Cityzens.

This season, the former Roma man has been part of Inter’s first-choice midfield trio. Mkhitaryan, Nicolo Barella, and Hakan Calhanoglu have comprised the midfield in big matches by and large.

Accordingly, Marcelo Brozovic is the player who will miss out if Mkhitaryan starts.

Whilst the Croat had been a key starter coming into the season, injuries have seen him lose ground.

Brozovic would then be one of the main options to come off the bench during the match.
